River Jazz & Blues Band er blevet ét af de mest benyttede og populære danske orkestre på klubber og festivaler i Skandinavien. River Band har optrådt uafbrudt hvert år siden begyndelsen af 1970’erne. River Band leverer en velrystet cocktail af jazz, blues og latin serveret med jysk lune. Kun få jazzklubber eller festivals har undgået at blive ramt af et humoristisk og stærkt swingende angreb fra River Band - LIVE !River Band kom til verden i 1971 i Vestjylland med musikere bosiddende i Lemvig og Holstebro. Orkestret fik navn efter Storåen, der flyder på de kanter.
River Band er kendt for sin afvekslende, farverige stil - en blanding af traditionsbevidsthed og evne til at overraske. Nærvær og engagement er sat i højsædet hos dette originale, vestjyske band.
River Bands optræden skabes af musikernes fælles inspiration - samt lysten til at få publikum i tale. Med elskede klassikere, elegante arrangementer og inciterende danserytmer.
Mange sange, melodier og arrangementer i River Band er lavet af orkestrets trompetist, mundharpespiller, leder og stifter, Torben Lassen. Flere af disse numre er blevet klassikere på spillesteder i hele landet.
River Band har turneret uden pause i mere end 40 år i Danmark og i udlandet. River Band spiller i dag en krydret blanding af jazz, blues, latin og spirituals.
