Kult-bandet Secret Oyster er tilbage på den danske musikscene. Som få andre danske bands har Secret Oyster nydt international anerkendelse, både i deres første levetid i 70’erne og siden de i 2007 blev gendannet. Bandet opstod i 1972 som en forlængelse af den instrumentale side af Burnin Red Ivanhoe, og frem til 1977 havde Secret Oyster et navn på den progressive rock/fusions-scene både nationalt og internationalt. Deres fire plader fra den periode har kult-status i dag, ikke mindst blandt amerikanske fans. De er således alle blevet genudgivet i netop USA.
Det var da også en udenlandsk opfordring, der fik sat bandet sammen igen. Det amerikanske label The Laser’s Edge påbegyndt i 2005 genudgivelsen på cd af de fire originale vinyludgivelser, hvorefter den amerikanske NEARfest festival inviterede bandet, der ikke havde været samlet i 30 år, til at spille en re-unionkoncert i Bethlehem, nær New York. Koncerten blev på alle måder en stor succes, der blev fulgt op af en live-cd-udgivelse med hele koncerten, af en ny invitation til at deltage i en amerikansk festival – nu som hovednavn – og siden da en række koncerter i Danmark, der har bekræftet, at også her har Secret oyster en stor fanskare.
