En energisk og festlig hyldest til en række favoritter fra jazzhistorien krydret med kapelmesterens interesse for diverse andre musikkulturer, Latin-Amerika, Afrika, Østen m.m.
Titler som "Hendersong", "Duke's Jungle", Monkwhile" indikerer retningen, og ligeledes er der også tributes til Coltrane, Rollins, Shorter m.fl.
"Epistrophy" var Thelonious Monk's kendingsmelodi og kan oversættes til en tilbagevendende, punktuerende slutfrase. Septetten bruger netop dette til at afrunde de mangfoldige improvisationer og til at sende nye af sted.
Formatet med de fire blæsere samt rytmegruppe giver rige muligheder for at orkestrere næsten Big Band-agtigt, samtidig med at det bibeholder smidigheden i en mindre gruppe.
I bandet blandes generationer og stilistiske tilgange i en inciterende enhed.
