About Film - Letter from Masanjia:

(Scroll down for English version )

- CinemaOnline
★★★★★ "Alt det som en dokumentar bør være. Gang på gang bliver man forbløffet." - PlayUp.dk

Having recently qualified for the 2019 Oscars, the award-winning documentary "Letter from Masanjia" is coming to Denmark! The story is of a modern message-in-a-bottle that travels 8,000 kilometers from China to Oregon, USA, leading to major societal changes and an even more incredible human story!

When a desperate SOS letter penned by a prisoner of conscience in China turns up in Halloween decorations sold in Oregon, USA, it sparks a chain of events that catalyzed the shutdown of China's labor-camp system (even though, it must be noted, other forms of arbitrary detention and re-education remain).

Directed by Peabody Award winning director, Leon Lee, the film is both a powerful tale of human suffering, compassion and perseverance and a powerful reminder that most meaningful changes in life stem from the courage of those individuals who fearlessly expose social ills for the sake of truth and justice.
