    Description

Do you enjoy drawing but lacking inspiration and direction? Are you keen to receive personal mentoring to develop your unique style? And would you like to learn how to turn your sketches into presentable artworks? Then join us this summer for outdoor sketching classes in Copenhagen's scenic spots, followed by group presentations and personal feedback.

The Summer Drawing Classes, organised by Visual Agency, take place in various locations in Copenhagen over the summer, offering you the opportunity to develop your own style of representing on paper what you see in front of you. Making your mark is, however, not just about translating what you see onto paper; it is about developing your own visual language by bringing together observation skills with your individual mode of expression. To achieve this unique personal style, you will be encouraged to experiment with various mediums, to learn from the work of relevant artists, and to explore the concept of an 'expanded field of drawing'.

During the class, you will receive personal mentoring, based on university level art education. This constructive feedback aims to help you grow and learn, and above all to start thinking creatively. Creativity, after all, is not just about making something but about the process of developing new ideas. The classes will take place in a supportive group environment and you will be encouraged to share ideas with others during the class and as part of the online Visual Agency Community. The building of a community spirit is part of the goal of getting together over the summer, so people from all walks of life and parts of the world are encouraged to join.

Each class is 3 hours long. The first half hour will be used to introduce the place and topic, followed by 2 hours of drawing while the teacher provides ongoing feedback on an individual level. At the end, we come together to have a look at all the drawings and give each other feedback and suggestions.

To celebrate the end of the Summer Drawing Classes, all participants are invited for a night of drinks and Pecha Kucha presentations - a chance to get together again, to show your work and to receive feedback from your peers. You will also get a written evaluation of your practice and progress from the teacher afterwards. So join us in this summer long celebration of engaging in creativity and making new friendships!

    PRACTICAL DETAILS

Registration: there are 7 topics (week 24-30 find the overview here) and you can attend as many classes as you wish by signing up at least 2 days in advance for the class. Each topic is repeated 3 times during the week, to give everyone the chance to participate. The more classes you attend, the better the feedback from the teacher will be, as she will be able to follow your progress and advice you on how to improve.

Participation: after signing up, you will receive further information about the course per email two days before the class. There is a minimum of 5 participants per class, so please help spreading the word by liking and sharing the event on the Visual Agency Facebook page!

Materials: you have to bring your own materials, such as a notebook, pencils, pens, markers, watercolours etc. You will, however, be encouraged to try new approaches to drawing!

Weather: the outdoor classes will only take place if the weather is good, and if it turns out to be raining the class will be cancelled.

Refunds: refunds are not offered unless the class is cancelled, in which case you will receive a full refund within 5 working days through the Billetto system.
