Tre af Danmarks markante musikalske profiler har sammen dannet
kollektivet The hOpening!
En nutidig musik som tager sig jazzens frihed, men som i lige så høj grad er influeret af filmmusik, americana, Twin Peaks, surf, psykedelisk rock og elektronisk minimalisme.
Udtrykket er groft skulptureret, nedbarberet enkelt og lader et stort rum i musikken stå åbent og uberørt til at lytteren kan danne sine egne billeder.
The hOpening! består af :
Pedal steel-guitaristen Margrethe Björklund,
trommeslageren Jeppe Gram
og kontrabassisten Lennart Ginman.
Kendere af disse tre kapaciteters musikalske ’bagkatalog’ vil vide, at vi befinder os i grænselandet, hvor traditionen altid udfordres og genreløsheden florerer, og ingen kan vide sig helt
sikker…
Hvad der dog er helt sikkert er, at den nysgerrige og legende indfaldsvinkel til improvisation, ligger som en rød tråd gennem The hOpenings musik. Dybt i trioens DNA ligger kærligheden til såvel jazzens støvede melankoli som til samtidsmusikkens upolerede udtryk og popmusikkens rørende enkelthed.
