THOMAS FONNESBÆK (DEN) • The Art of the Contrabass
We welcome you to a unique afternoon of contrabass! Thomas Fonnesbæk plays with all the best musicians in Denmark and abroad - walking in the foodsteps of all the great bass-playing Danes but at the same time with his own unique and heartfelt touch. We will on this special occasion be invited into his solo-world in the first part and in duo with Paolo Russo on piano and bandoneon, in the second part of the concert.

ABOUT Thomas:
Born in 1977, the outstanding Danish bass player and composer/improviser, who received the prestigious Ben Webster Prize in 2021, has throughout his versatile career played his way into a world of elite jazz musicians with, among others, Didier Lockwood, Enrico Pieranunzi, Justin Kauflin, Aaron Parks, Christian Sands, John Taylor, Lars Jansson, Helge Lien, Paolo Fresu, Harvey Mason, Stéphane Belmondo, Adam Baldych, and others. He is also known for his duo collaboration with the singer Sinne Eeg, which has been widely appreciated all over the world. The duo received a Danish jazz Grammy in 2015.
Furthermore, he has collaborated extensively with the Swedish Pianist Lars Jansson; with his trio, they have played all over the world for the past 10 years. Quite remarkable is also the long list of international appearances together with Enrico Pieranunzi Trio/Duo, Justin Kauflin Trio (Quincy Jones Productions), Mona Larsen, Lis Sørensen, Søs Fenger, and others.
Thomas Fonnesbæk is known for his virtuoso playing and dazzling technique, which makes him an eminent soloist and accompanist, as well as an improviser in a class of its own.
