Midt i 1900-tallet var industrikvarteret i Valby blandt landets største! Udviklingen tog allerede fart, da godsbanen 1009 blev ført gennem Valby.
Store virksomheder etablerede sig i trekanten mellem Vigerslev Allé, Trekronergade, Carl Jacobsens Vej/Godsbanen og G. Køge Landevej.
Virksomheder som Henkel, F.L. Smidth, Københavns og Sukkerraffinaderier var helt centrale for Valby, men kom også til at præge udviklingen af dansk industri.
Tidens største arkitekter blev sat til at opføre nogle imponerende bygninger, hvoraf nogle stykker har overlevet industrikvarterets nedsmeltning og nu har fået nyt liv!
Turen er på ca. 3 km og varer 1,5-2 timer. Undervejs er der ca. 10 stop, hvor vi hører om forsvundne virksomheder, men også ser og hører eksempler på, hvordan funktionstømte industrivirksomheder har fået et nyt og spændende liv.Kirsten Winther er turistfører og aktiv i Lokalhistorisk Selskab.
