Description
Mark and Rémy are in the final stages of redeveloping their performance lecture for its premiere at the Edinburgh Fringe. They will be focusing on continuing to find waste to incorporate call and response between percussion and dance and refining the text and recorded audios incorporated in the performance.
Stepping in… Spilling out: across your parent’s carpet, stepping into the cypher, stepping in solidarity, stepping with strangers in the club.
Collaboration with French percussionist Rémy Gouffault, this work takes a walk along the personal history of Mark's dance practice through the foundational act of stepping; the different people, communities, histories and politics that collide with Mark's body through these movements. Beginning on an oversized drawing of his family home carpet, using movement, conversations, participation and music, Mark and Rémy guide you through layers of landscapes stepping through; parties, protests, rituals, mosh pits and gas clouds.
THE ARTISTS
During the residency, Mark and Rémy will work with a large body of material they’ve developed over time. They will begin to explore it in a playful way, allowing for the discovery of multiple pathways through the material—finding new ways to respond to and build on each other’s contributions.
Joining them during the residency are Quim Bigas as dramaturg, Marco Prayer as choreographic collaborator and guest performer, and Sophie Grodin as guest writer.
TICKETS
Participation is free, but please reserve your ticket as seating is limited.
THE RESIDENCY
This WORKSHARING is the culmination of the 2-week IN PRODUCTION residency, where artists have worked in a black box with a simple technical set-up.
IN PRODUCTION is HAUT's 2 or 4 week residency, giving artists the opportunity to work on productions in a studio or black box
Organiser
HAUT takes the performing arts to new heights. To be able to aim high we begin by diving into the process.
With a focus on residencies, we insist on offering space, time and dialogue to all aspects of the artistic process. Here we show art in its early and raw state and open up the conversation to find new perspectives.
When we turn our gaze to the unmeasurable and the unfinished, we offer the artists new conditions for sharing and risk-taking.
Venue
Studio 0.1., Thoravej 29, 2400 København
