In this 3-hour workshop, aimed at performing artists, we will unfold the idea of conflict in acts of embodiment. As a starting point we will ask: What does your practice embody? With the aim of reflecting on the strategies of performers, we will critically engage with our respective histories as artists and explore how the notion of conflict can raise further questions in relation to our practice.
Practical information
To make sure you all have energy to move and for the rest of the festival day, we will have a ryebread sandwich ready for you at the workshop. It's included in the workshop-fee.
About caterina daniela mora jara
caterina daniela mora jara (Argentina/Chile, 1988) is a performing artist and researcher coming from the territory called Patagonia by expeditionary colonizers. She was born in a city that carries the name of the general who organized the genocide and displacement of native people.
Trained in academic and folkloric dance, caterina’s work aims to problematize modes of production and the colonial legacy in the representation of Western dance. Her pedagogical approach uses intimacy as procedure and explores translation as transgression.
caterina is currently doing a PhD at SKH, Uniarts (Stockholm) and the Research Center Cycle IV at a.pass (Brussels). She got married to have a residency permit on European territory. She dances tango and sails a boat. She doesn’t have an Instagram account and has never gone into an IKEA store. She wants to be a mum.
