North Quarter or "Pisserenden". We trace its lovelife, nightlife, high life and down-and-out-life from its time as a hub of hotels and inns just inside the busiest Town Gate - The penetrate the locks and gates of marriage among the elite of the Golden Age elite of the 19. century to find both domestic bliss, forbidden passion and horror.

Descend into the slum years, when the central street came to be known as the Piss Gutter, a main prostitution area. Around one corner we see the cloistered student residence of Herman Bang, the flamboyant writer dogged with rumors of his unusual love interests.

Finally we enter into the happy-go-hippie times of the 60'ies. Smart young people moved in, and where the old streets became the stage for sexual expression. Free Love was the ideal - and some times part of a business model.
