As a prelude to International Women's Day 2022, the French Institute, the Goethe Institute and the European Parliament in Denmark would like to invite you to a French-German-Danish discussion on the current state of the feminist fight in Europe.

Do young women define feminism differently from their predecessors? What issues are being discussed today? What has the #MeToo movement achieved? Where are there still gaps in terms of gender equality? What images of women do we see in advertising and the media? Panelists from Denmark, Germany and France will exchange views on these and other issues on 7 March at Europa-Huset in Copenhagen.

The event will be hosted by Europahuset, and will take place from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm. The discussion will be held in english. 

Speakers:

Bibia Pavard (FR) is a historian specialising in contemporary history and the history of women and gender. She wrote a thesis on the issues of contraception and abortion in France from 1956 to 1979. As a lecturer at the French Press Institute, she focuses on the history of feminism in relation to the history of the media.

Journalist Verena Lammert (DE) is an editor at the Digital Innovation Newslab of the German public TV channel WDR and also runs, together with Franziska Hilfenhaus and Tina Strowig, “Kooperative W”, a media consultancy for women. Among others, she developed the award-winning Instagram-channel @maedelsabende, a special programme developed for a young female audience.

The conversation will be moderated by media consultant and author Maia Kahlke Lorentzen (DK). Through the agency Cybernauts, she organises courses and workshops on digital literacy, cyber security and digital self-defence against shitstorms and online hate. She is also a guest lecturer at DMJX (Danish Media and Journalism School) and author of the book Can trolls be tamed? about internet trolls.
