Om
Founded in 2019, Current Resonance is a composer / performer ensemble, based in Denmark, producing meticulously curated events of intermedial music in a variety of settings.
Members: Dylan Richards, Joss Smith, Matthew Grouse, Michael Hope
Since 2019, Current Resonance has put on nearly 50 events, comprising unique programmes of music almost exclusively composed within the last 15 years. Their approach involves holistic curation where each aspect of the event experience is composed with and threaded into the overarching event concept. Their curated activities span, amongst other things, nights at the cinema; online and physical community building and participation; tightly knit programmes of acoustic and digitally mediated music; concerts boasting invented genres; instrumental theatre; installation art; and platforming / producing the work of up-and-coming artists.
As well as performing the music of their four members, Current Resonance's repertoire traverses a broad aesthetic spectrum. The group have performed and produced music by composers such as: Eva-Maria Houben, Johannes Kreidler, Marcela Lucatelli, Simon Løffler, Natacha Diels, Ian Power, Joanna Bailie, Jagoda Szmytka, Carolyn Chen, Peter Ablinger, James Saunders, Caitlin Rowley, Louis d’Heudieres, Heather Frasche, and Jessie Marino. The group have commissioned and premiered new pieces by artists such as: Dalin Waldo, Cătălina Lazurca, Monika Szpyrka, Fredrik Degrér, Alexandra Hallén, Niklas Brandenhoff, and Silke Nielsen.
The ensemble are named after Ian Power's "for *current* resonance", which they performed during their inaugural concert in 2019.
