Bliv omsluttet af et varmt og organisk lydbillede, der rager helt op til loftsbjælkerne. Den norske eksperimentalguitarist Kim Myhr fremfører sit episke og rørende værk “Sympathetic Magic” med et band bestående af syv musikere, inklusiv hele fire guitarister.
“Sympathetic Magic” er et righoldigt og bevægende overflødighedshorn, som vi glæder os til at præsentere i en ambitiøs livefremførelse. Med et band bestående af syv musikere og en omfattende instrumentpark med tolvstrengede elguitarer, trommemaskiner, vokal, synthesizere, orgel, trommer og percussion, samt lys, lyd og visuals, er det et vidtrækkende værk i stor skala, som Kim Myhr bringer ind i den sorte boks på ALICE på Stairway. Et lydhav af sirlig og forfinet instrumentering, som publikum kan svømme væk i.
Kim Myhr excellerer i organiske komposition af symfoniske proportioner. Hans musik gør sig bemærket ved en altomsluttende varme og en omsorgsfuld detaljeringsgrad i kompositionerne, hvor hvert eneste instrument kommer til orde. Bølgebrydninger af fint sammenvævede guitarfigurer, primale taktslag og støvregn af pulserende orgel og hypnotiserende synths flyder naturligt som ebbe og flod gennem forskellige passager og sektioner. Melodiske ledetråde hives frem som elementer, som publikum kan holde fast i undervejs.
Som guitarist og komponist er Kim Myhr et fyrtårn på den norske såvel som internationale eksperimentalmusikscene. Han har turneret internationalt siden begyndelsen af 00’erne og har udgivet flere plader under eget navn. Det forrige album “You | Me” blev nomineret til Nordic Music Prize og rost internationalt. Som komponist har han skrevet musik til Australian Art Orchestra, Quatuor Bozzini, Kitchen Orchestra, Trondheim Jazz Orchestra, og så har han samarbejdet med navne som Jenny Hval, Lasse Marhaug med flere.
“Sympathetic Magic” er et begreb, som stammer fra forfatteren James Frazers roman “The Golden Bough”. Sympatisk magi er en art energi, der kan overføres gennem tid om rum. Ting, som først en gang har været i kontakt med hinanden, vil fortsætte med at påvirke hinanden på afstand, selv efter den fysiske kontakt er brudt.

Mens vores koncertsal på Nørre Allé 7 renoveres, genhuses ALICE midlertidigt på Stairway i Vanløse i 2023.

A mesmerizing piece of music with symphonic proportions, “Sympathetic Magic” is overflowing with waves of interleaving guitars, primal beats, shafts of radiant organ and blissed-out synths. Kim Myhr is among Norway’s leading experimental guitarists and will be performing along with a band of eight musicians playing a wide variety of instruments including electric 12-string guitars, drum machines, vocals, synthesizers, organs and lots of drums and percussion.

While the concert hall at Nørre Allé 7 is getting a new ventilation system, ALICE is moving into the music venue Stairway in Vanløse on January 1. 2023.

ALICE is presenting a bold and high quality program of global roots, jazz/improv, electronic music, sonic experiments and much more, shedding light on musical roots and legendary artists as well as exciting new breakthroughs from all over the world.
