Den 29. september inviterer jeg til releasefest og koncertaften for at fejre udgivelsen af mit debutalbum og bog Mother Tongue.

Albummet er en sonisk hybrid af r'n'b, rap, eksperimentel komposition og folklore. Teksterne forbinder barndomsscener med psykiatriske afdelinger og internetrum, og skaber en fragmenteret, men meditativ refleksion over sårbarhed i en hyperglobaliseret verden.

Lyrikbogen, skabt i samarbejde med grafisk designer Paw Poulsen, kombinerer albummets tekster med digitale collager og et sammensurium af tekstbrudstykker, internetbilleder og håndskrevne noter.

Mother Tongue er på mange måder en historie om ensomhed og et forsøg på at vise den som en fælles historie. Derfor er jeg glad for at dele aftenen med Mija Milovic, Cisser Mæhl og Puyain Sanati, der alle inspirerer mig musikalsk såvel som menneskeligt.

On September 29th, I invite you to the release party at Christianshavn Beboerhus to celebrate the release of my debut album and artbook, Mother Tongue, out on inklingroom.

The album is a sonic hybrid of R'n'B, rap and experimental composition. The lyrics connect childhood scenes with the psychiatric ward and internet rooms, creating a fragmented yet meditative reflection on fragility in a hyper-globalized world.

The artbook, created in collaboration with graphic designer Paw Poulsen, combines the album's lyrics with digital collages. The printed matter stitches together a new narrative on its own terms, transferring the album's dynamic range to the graphics.

Mother Tongue is in many ways a story about loneliness and an attempt to show it as a shared story. Therefore, I am pleased to share the evening and space with three artists - Mija Milovic, Cisser Mæhl, and Puyain Sanati - who all inspire me with their music and way of being.

CISSER MÆHL

Cisser Mæhl is a composer and singer, and on March 3, 2023, her debut album "Innemuseum" was released on the Berlin-based record label Sonic Pieces. She works with music production in interdisciplinary collaborations and has created music for films, video games, performing arts, and literature. She will perform music from her debut album, which undoubtedly is an incredibly personal release, almost like an extension of the artist herself. Cisser sings in Danish with her crystal-clear voice, while rhythms and cinematic violins create a kind of minimalist chamber music with hints of pop music; like a river of weightless compositions that speak to the audience's senses and contemplation.

MIJA MILOVIC

The Danish/Montenegrin musician, composer, and producer is among the most active and creative figures of her generation on the Copenhagen music scene, both as a solo artist under her own name and the alias Puck Mintie, as a member of the band SLIM0, and as a driving force in various projects like Kvindebandet, Viktors Garage, Skyggen, and more. On her latest release, the eclectic "Still Life," which came out in May this year, Milovic transcends conventional genre definitions and fearlessly combines the virtues of 90s grunge with renaissance-like structures. The lyrics vividly tell stories of finding magic in the ordinary, discovering one's personal path within oppressive structures, being carried away by the energy of fellow human beings, and creating space for each other in a community. It explores the feeling of alienation in the urban landscape and learning to let go and embrace all emotions.

PUYAIN SANATI

Puyain Sanati is a Danish-Iranian, Copenhagen-based composer and sound artist. Coming from a background in more dance-oriented club music he now also works within the field of improvisation, electroacoustic and abstract music. Influenced by improvisation and ritual music, he has been delving into his artistic research on the subject of ‘ancient traditions with today’s electronic possibilities’, utilising hypnotic rhythms and soundscapes to map out some kind of bigger universal language.

KAREN JUHL

Karen Juhl is a Danish art pop artist, singer and producer based in Copenhagen. With an equal love for experimental composition, literature and pop music Karen Juhl often works in between art forms. Inspired by artists such as Laurie Anderson, Solange and M.I.A., she explores what songwriting can be in the 21st century. She has previously released the video work As We Wait via the 405 and the 4-track EP ‘Endless’ in 2022.
