Foredrag ved Gunhild Agger, professor i mediehistorie på Aalborg Universitet

Hvordan er politiet blevet fremstillet i populærkulturen gennem tiden? Det enkle svar er: meget forskelligt! Fra de første kriminalromaner til de seneste tv-krimier er der sket en kolossal udvikling. Til at begynde med var privatdetektiven overlegen i forhold til politiet – tænk bare på Sherlock Holmes, der altid var foran Scotland Yards inspector G. Lestrade. Det ændrede sig med de populære politiserier i fjernsynet, og derfor vil foredraget især stille skarpt på tv-fiktion – herunder den danske. Bestemte typer er genkommende over tid, fx den kloge, lovmedholdelige, der ofte sættes over for den intuitive eller autonome betjent, Dirty Harry-typen. Men billedet er langt mere nuanceret. Den individuelle betjent ses ofte i forhold til hele holdet, og kvinder har fået en langt mere fremtrædende placering end tidligere. Begge dele demonstreres i Rejseholdet og er blevet fulgt op af udviklingen siden. – Betyder det så noget, hvordan politiet fremstilles? Selv om de fleste godt kan skelne mellem virkelighed og fiktion, er der dog dokumentation for, at mediernes billeder ikke er uvæsentlige.
