Description

On Thursday 24 February, the artist/musician Francesca Burattelli will be hosting BAR x at Art Hub.

The Voice Turned into Word and the Word Turned into Song. This sentence is the title and basis of a series of performative choral acts by Francesca Burattelli, in which each of the performers are phrasing in their own native language, including Italian, English, Farsi and Danish.

BAR x will feature a live-version of The Voice Turned into Word and the Word Turned into Song, based on a video work of the same name, which is being screened at the Museum of Religious Art in Lemvig until June 2022. This is the first time the work will be performed live.

The work is based on the different musicality of the individual languages, and through these intones and accentuates the innate melody of the sentences. By illustrating the transition from speech to song, the performers attempt to capture the moment at which song transcends language through melody.

The video work, which visitors can currently see at the Museum of Religious Art in Lemvig, focuses on the individual voice. The viewer is drawn into one single language and interpretation at a time. In the live performance at BAR x, the different voices and languages are interwoven into a single choral work.

The bar will serve soft drinks, beer and wine, and there will be a DJ after the performance.

Admission is free, but you need a ticket. Free tickets are available here at Billetto.
