Bo Stief - Alex Riel Kvartet, Americans in Copenhagen.
Saxofonisten Dexter Gordon er et at jazzhistoriens helt store navne, - en stilskaber der mestrede beboppens høje tempo og melodiske fraser på linje med Charlie Parker og Dizzy Gillespie.

Denne eftermiddag vil primært Dexter Gordons musik blive præsenteret; swingende og virtuost af musikere, der kender Dexter og hans musik rigtig godt.

3 efterhånden legendariske danske musikere; Ole Kock Hansen, Alex Riel og Bo Stief spillede ofte sammen med Dexter og talte ham tilmed blandt en af deres nærmeste venner. De får i eftermiddag selskab af ingen ringere end vor tids store tenorgigant Tomas Franck, som er kendt og anerkendt af de største amerikanske musikere. Hans enestående kreativt anlagte spil trækker tradition tilbage til Dexter Gordon, Sonny Rollins og John Coltrane samtidig med, at han er helt sin egen. 

Gennem det meste af musikhistorien har der været amerikanske jazzmusikere, som i kortere eller længere perioder har opholdt sig i København. Særligt signifikant blev det i 1960´erne, hvor en række bemærkelsesværdige musikere bosatte sig i København og gjorde byen til et musikalsk fyrtårn.

De amerikanske musikere gav dansk jazz en vitaminindsprøjtning, som faktisk kan mærkes den dag i dag. Det var især tenorsaxofonister som Dexter Gordon, Ben Webster og Brew Moore, der satte sig dybe spor i den danske jazzsjæl. Den primære kunstneriske base var Montmartre i Store Regnegade, hvor amerikanske musikere skrev sig ind i jazzhistorien
