Et feministisk debatarrangement om sårbarhedens plads i litteratur og arkitektur.

"Jeg tror sengen er naglet fast"

I Charlotte Perkins Gilmans feministiske horrorklassiker ‘Det Gule Tapet’ fra 1892 tvinges en ung mor på hvilekur i et værelse med et uhyggeligt tapet, der gradvist bliver hendes eneste interesse. I Fine Gråbøls aktuelle roman ‘Ungeenheden’ kæmper en ung pige for sit liv på hospitalets bosted for unge, omgivet af skinnende blåhvide vægge og rekvisitagtige møbler.

Ved dette arrangement dykker vi ned i begge værker og undersøger, hvordan både rummets og samfundets indretning får afgørende betydning for hovedpersonernes skæbner.

I slutningen af det 19. århundrede satte Det Gule Tapet for første gang ord på det, vi i dag vil kalde en fødselsdepression. Forklædt som underlødig horror gjorde den gotiske genre det muligt for kvinder at skildre en sårbar virkelighed, som ingen ellers ville vide af. Men hvordan imødekommer samfundet kvindens sårbarhed i dag? Til arrangementet vil et panel adressere, hvilke rum vi skaber for og til kvindens psyke med historiske og nutidige referencer indenfor både litteratur og arkitektur.

Panelet består af Kasper Opstrup, der forsker i litteratur, kunst og okkultisme ved Københavns Universitet og har oversat Det Gule Tapet til dansk, Fine Gråbøl, forfatter til Ungeenheden, Linea Maja Ernst, litteraturkritiker og debattør samt ph.d. ved Kunstakademiets Arkitektskole Anne Pind. Samtalen modereres af litteraturformidler og medoversætter af Det Gule Tapet, Caroline Enghoff Mogensen.

Arrangementet er et samarbejde mellem CAFx og Blågårdens Bibliotek.
