De bragte en ekstatisk Balkan-fest til Roskilde Festivals Avalon-scene i sommers. Det store ensemble Džambo Aguševi Orchestra fra Nordmakedonien er nu klar til at indtage Valby Kulturhus med mesterlig balkan brass.
Det blev intet mindre end en folkefest, da Džambo Aguševi Orchestra indtog Roskilde Festival i sommers. Her samlede de under et skybrud en danseglad masse af festivalgængere til varmblodet balkan brass på Avalon-scenen.
Bandleder og trompetist Džambo Agušev går under øgenavnet “The Funky Tiger”, og funky er det da også, når han med sit store ensemble blæser op til fest. Džambo Agušev er ud af en familie, der har været musikere i flere generationer. Så han har den traditionelle balkan brass-musik inde under huden og færdes hjemmevant i dens kulturelle mix af traditioner fra Balkan, Tyrkiet og regionens roma-befolkning.
Internationalt forbindes balkan brass-traditionen især med Serbien, ikke mindst på grund af festivalen Dragačevski Sabor (den gylden trompet), der anses for at være den vigtigste balkan brass battle i verden. I 2011 hjembragte Džambo Aguševi Orchestra førstepræmien og slog dermed også fast, at Nordmakedonien sagtens kan være med i den internationale superliga af balkan brass.
De sidste mange år har orkestret været efterspurgt til både bryllupper og festivaler i hjemlandet. Džambo Agušev hviler dog ikke på laurbærerne, men har en mission om at udbrede sin musik til hele verden. Og som Džambo Aguševi Orchestra da også til fulde demonstrerede på Roskilde Festival, så kan man sagtens være med i festen, selvom man ikke har fødderne plantet i de rige traditioner. Ja, faktisk er det meget svært ikke at lade sig rive med. Mærk det på egen krop, når The Funky Tiger og hans garvede hold af musikere indtager ALICE!

From humble beginnings in the small Macedonian city of Strumica to conquering stages across the globe, the Džambo Aguševi Orchestra has risen to the very top of the international music scene. Džambo Agušev also known by the nickname " the funky tiger " is the most widely celebrated Macedonian musician and since the late Esma Redžepova but he’s not about to rest on his laurels. Instead, the 31 year old trumpet player and band leader is aiming at developing the reputation he and his band hold as musicians par excellence!
In 2019 the Džambo Aguševi Orchestra played an ecstatic concert at Roskilde Festival, displaying their firm grasp of the audience and their ability to create a wild Balkan brass party. Mixing traditional Balkan, Gypsy and Turkish music with inspirations from swing, jazz, pop and film music, the band is guaranteed to make you dance, when they perform at ALICE in 2020!
