Fado Evening with Marco Oliveira!
Marco Oliveira is a singer-songwriter and a musician that moves through fado and many traditional genres. He started studying classical guitar at the age of 13 in the Portuguese National Conservatory in Lisbon. Since then, Oliveira has released two solo albums: Retrato (2008) and Amor é água que corre (2016). He has also collaborated on many renowned music projects, including a duet with singer-songwriter Vinicio Capossela at Teatro Tivoli, Lisbon.
Fado is a Portuguese genre of music which emerged in the first half of the 19th century in Alfama, a district in the capital of Portugal, Lisbon. It literally means „fate”. It is known for its expressive and profundly melancolic character. The fado singers often speaks about harsh realities of life and 'saudade' - an emotional state of longing for an absent something or somebody that one loves. Fado music has become incredibly popular all over the world because of its uniqueness and emotional power.
An intimate and delicate solo concert will be held in KoncertKirken, Copenhagen.
