Torsdag den 2. november kl. 19 inviterer vi i samarbejde med designhistoriker Birgit Lyngbye Pedersen til foredrag på Kløvermarksvej 70:
1950’erne var årtiet, da Danish Modern holdt sit indtog i USA , og Finn Juhl stod i spidsen som en af de første møbelarkitekter, der blev kendt udenfor Danmarks grænser.
I 1951 fik Finn Juhl sine møbler produceret i Amerika hos Baker Furniture i Grand Rapids, der gerne ville ind på markedet for moderne møbler, og samme år tildelte Akademiet ved Det Kongelige Danske Kunstakademi Finn Juhl den prestigefyldte opgave at indrette Formynderskabsrådets sal til De Forenede Nationers hovedsæde i New York.
Med det amerikanske gennembrud fulgte opgaver rundt om i verden, hvor også japanerne faldt for de danske møbler.
Finn Juhl blev en verdensmand med eksport af møbler og indretninger, hvor det danske møbeldesign, det fint forarbejdede håndværk i snedkerarbejdet med træet i centrum og samarbejdet mellem arkitekter og snedkere adskilte sig fra anden industriel masseproduktion og standardisering.
