Skønt den amerikanske sanger Kenny Washington (US) nok vil være ukendt for mange i Skandinavien, så er der tale om en jazz- og soulsanger, som tåler sammenligning med de største jazzstjerner. Han har begejstret publikum verden over med soulfulde fortolkninger, opfindsom scatsang og en tilsyneladende ubegrænset range.
Da Kenny Washington i 2015 indspillede albummet “Moanin” på det legendariske pladeselskab Storyville Records, var det resultatet af 3 koncerter på Jazzhus Montmartre i København med en Skandinavisk trio bestående af Jacob Christoffersen (pno), Jesper Bodilsen (bas) og Zoltan Csorsz (tr). Den samme trio, som Washington nu kan opleves med på Designmejeriet.
Blandt højdepunkter i Washingtons karriere kan nævnes flere optrædener på Lincoln Centre med bl.a. Wynton Marsalis, Gregory Porter, Paula West, Roberta Gambarini og Eric Reed, hvor man bl.a. har fejret Frank Sinatra’s og Ella Fitzgerald’s 100 års fødselsdag.
