Hypnotisk, polyrytmisk dansemusik på hjemmelavede instrumenter. Med base i Kinshasa skaber KOKOKO! den ekspressive musik, ”tekno kintueni”. I sommers satte de Roskilde Festival i levende svingninger. Nu er er det ALICEs tur!

Musikken bobler og syder i Kinshasa, hvor DIY-scenen er under sprudlende vækst. Musikken fra den afrikanske storbys klubber, hvor kunstnere med hjemmelavede instrumenter, opfindsomme tilgange og polyrytmisk drive har skabt en ny og unik form for klubmusik. En klub- og dansemusik, som er langt mere ekspressiv, levende og spontan end eksempelvis Londons eller Berlins klubscener.

Ét af de navne, som for alvor har slået igennem, er den eksplosive gruppe KOKOKO! Bandet, der fandt hinanden i Ngwaka-kvarteret i Kinshasa, består af musikere fra området og den franske DJ og producer, débruit.

Deres koncerter er struktureret omkring leverende, ud-over-scenen attitude og hjemmelavede ad-hoc-instrumenter, som leverer hakkende og vibrerende lyde i vekslende tempi med polyrytmiske trommeforløb.

A wind of change is blowing over the cultural landscape of Kinshasa. An explosive alternative scene is thriving. KOKOKO! is the sound of it. On homemade instruments their build their own take on club music.

Opened on the 1st of February 2018, ALICE is Copenhagen’s powerhouse for adventurous music. ALICE is presenting a bold and high quality program of global roots, jazz/improv, electronic music, sonic experiments and much more, shedding light on musical roots and legendary artists as well as exciting new breakthroughs from all over the world.

  • I have not received my ticket via email. What should I do?

    The first thing to do is check your spam/junk filters and inboxes. Your tickets were sent as an attachment and can be thought of as spam by some email services.
