Da Steiney Sigurðardóttir var fem år, hørte hun Icelandic Symphony Orchestra fremføre Camille Saint-Saëns Dyrenes Karneval ved en børnekoncert i Reykjavik. Det gjorde så dybt et indtryk på hende, at hun efter koncerten meddelte sine forældre, at hun ville spille cello. Sådan blev det! Steiney blev i Island undervist af den verdenskendte cellist Gunnar Kvaran, som hjalp hende med at finde det helt rigtige instrument, en cello fra 1922, bygget i Dresden og opstøvet i København. Den var ikke blevet spillet på længe, men Steiney fik pustet nyt liv i den, og de har gennem tiden udviklet sig sammen.
Efter et ophold i USA, påbegyndte hun studier i Trossingen i Tyskland, hos en fransk professor, hvor hun i 2019 blev færdiguddannet. Målet var en orkesterplads og det opnåede hun allerede samme år, med ansættelsen hjemme i Icelandic Symphony Orchestra.
På NJORD Festival vil hun bl.a. spille musik af landsmanden Daníel Bjarnason samt af klassikeren György Ligeti.

NJORD er Københavns vinterfestival for ny, nordisk kunstmusik. NJORD samler komponister, musikere, visuelle kunstnere, digtere, instruktører i nordiske samarbejder og tværkunstneriske projekter.

I have not received my ticket via email. What should I do?
The first thing to do is check your spam/junk filters and inboxes. Your tickets were sent as an attachment and can be thought of as spam by some email services.
