Description

Frem til udgangen af maj måned 2019 udgraver et hold af arkæologer fra Museumsorganisationen ROMU dele af en kirkegård fra den helt tidlige middelalder i Slangerup. ROMUs arkæologer regner med at skulle udgrave omkring 50 grave, de fleste af dem formentlig fra 1100-tallet.

Kirkegården, der ligger i det centrale Slangerup, har med alt sandsynlighed har hørt til den store frådstenskirke, som kong Erik Ejegod fik bygget i Slangerup i årene omkring 1095, og hvis rester er udgravet ved flere lejligheder lige syd for den aktuelle udgravning.

Kirken kommer fra slutningen af 1100-tallet til at indgå i et kloster, som efter reformationen i 1536 blev revet ned. Både kirke, kloster og kirkegård fortæller om Slangerups særlige betydning i den tidlige middelalder.

På dagen møder du arkæolog og udgravningsleder Nadja Mortensen, der fortæller om udgravningen, de fund der er gjort og hvad de kan fortælle om Slangerup i den tidlige middelalder.
