Med musikere fra bl.a. Gaye Su Akyols band skaber Lalalar fra Istanbul retro-futuristiske møder mellem tyrkisk psych, elektronisk musik og anatolsk funk. Efter en kæmpe fest af en koncert på ALICE tilbage i 2019 glæder vi os til at præsentere dem på ALICE på Stairway. Electric Turk vender vinyler efter koncerten.

Der sker mange spændende tiltag på Istanbuls boblende alternative musikscene i disse år. Et af dem er bandet Lalalar, der på kort tid har charmet grundigt sig ind på tilhængere af tyrkisk psych og retro-klingende elektronisk musik. Med musikere fra den ikoniske sangerinde Gaye Su Akyols band, fik Lalalars første par livekoncerter og singler dem på programmet på den toneangivende hollandske festival Le Guess Who i 2019. Og siden er det kun gået fremad for trioen.

Lalalars lyd sender tankerne mod soundtracks til 80’ernes syrede kult-gyserfilm, med gruppens både fængende og flabede møder mellem nådesløse diskante retro-basgange, støvede elektroniske beats, dunkel reverb-vokal og nøje udvalgte samples fra anatolsk funk. Gruppens fremtidsnostalgiske elektroniske musik sender varmebølger gennem kroppen og kan få selv de stiveste dansegulvs-fornægtere i omdrejninger. Titlen på Lalalars debutsingle “İsyanlar” (Dunganga Records, 2019) kan oversættes til “oprør”, og det er mere eller mindre kernen i hvad man kan forvente af bandets live-optræden. Når de gæster ALICE på Stairway har de deres nye album “Bi Cinnete Bakar” (2022) med.

Istanbul’s finest retro-futuristic outfit Lalalar returns to ALICE at Stairway with their signature mash-up of Turkish psych, electronica, and Anatolian funk. Lalalar’s show at ALICE in 2019 turned into a massive dance party so expect to get moving when the three-piece returns to create a stir in Vanløse.

Of the numerous interesting new acts from Istanbul’s alternative music scene, Lalalar is without a doubt one of the more charming. Formed in 2019 featuring musicians from legendary singer Gaye Su Akyol’s band, Lalalar made their way to the to the line-up at important music festivals such as Le Guess Who after only a few live shows and single releases.

Evoking weird 80s psych horror movies, Lalalar are sure to sweep their audience away with their charmingly cinematic sounds. With their soundscapes of futuristic nostalgia crammed full with muddy retro basslines, electronic beats, and Anatolian funk samples, these party starters will convince even the most stubborn skeptics.

The title of Lalalar’s debut single “İsyanlar” (Dunganga Records, 2019) translates as “insurrection” - which sets the tone for their energetic live shows: Pure embodied rebellion. For their performance at ALICE at Stairway, Lalalar will be bringing you tunes from their latest album “Bi Cinnete Bakar” (2022).

While the concert hall at Nørre Allé 7 is getting a new ventilation system, ALICE is moving into the music venue Stairway in Vanløse on January 1. 2023.
