Kom med til åben udgravning og hør middelarkæolog Jesper Langkilde fortælle mere om, hvad arkæologerne finder og håber på at finde under de nye udgravninger på Sortebrødre Plads, inden der bliver opført nye boliger på området. Turen starter foran Roskilde Museum.

Saxo fortæller om bygningen af en befæstning omkring Roskilde – en byvold – som dateres til midten af 1100-tallet. Men hvordan var byvolden konstrueret? Og mon der findes en hidtil ukendt byport ind til Sortebrødrekloster? Det håber Roskilde Museums arkæologer at blive klogere på under udgravningerne på Sortebrødre Plads.

Tilbage i 2012 blev hele området ved Sortebrødre Plads forundersøgt ved en større arkæologisk forundersøgelse. Der blev påvist fortidsminder i hele området. Under udgravningen før opbygningen af parkeringshuset tilbage i 2016 blev en hidtil ukendt middelalderlig forstadsbebyggelse uden for byens østlige byport fundet. Nu er arkæologerne vendt tilbage til området for at få mere viden om Roskilde, der kan hjælpe med at gøre kortet over middelalderbyen endnu mere detaljeret.
