Den latinske dødsmesse gendigtet på dansk opføres under ledelse af Lars Sømod. Solisterne Annette Bo Nielsen, Jan Lund og Jens Bové synger med Vor Frelsers Kantori og Kammerorkester. Koncerterne støttes af Oticonfonden, Augustinusfonden, KK44 i Silkeborg samt Vor Frelsers Kirkes Menighedsråd.
I den katolske tradition er et rekviem en sjælemesse, som skal hjælpe den døde gennem skærsilden og ud på den anden side til evig frelse. Sømod og Mejer Jensens rekviem har rod i en lutheransk tradition og en moderne, dansk sammenhæng. Deres rekviem bygger på at se Gud i næsten og fortæller om at finde kræfter til at trøste og styrke hinanden – og kæmpe for, at kærligheden får en plads i verden, selv når vi møder krig, sorg og lidelse.
