og syrerock. Satanique Samba Trio gæster ALICE med nyt album og deres
excentriske take på brasiliansk musik.
Der er ikke den brasilianske genre, som ikke bliver vendt på hovedet,
forvrænget og kastet ud på ny, når den først har været igennem
Satanique Samba Trios djævelske lydinferno.
Kvintetten – ja, navnet snyder, men de er altså fem musikere –
trækker inspiration fra samba og forró, over bosso nova og lambada til
moderne kompositionsmusik, noise rock og free jazz. Hvis man er i den
tro, at det er blasfemisk at blande Brasiliens traditionsrige genrer med
hinanden og tilsætte lidt free jazz galskab, så må man nok korse sig
inden man åbner op for Satanique Samba Trios djævelske musik. Det
excentriske band kan lede tankerne hen på en brasiliansk version af
Frank Zappa eller Captain Beefheart.
Ensemblet har siden de blev grundlagt i 2002 udgivet en lang række
plader og været med på flere prominente antologier over ny brasiliansk
musik. Til september udsender de den nye vinyl MAIS BAD på det belgiske
label Rebel Up. Tro mod bandets evige eksperimentallyst og punkede
attitude, er albummet indspillet udelukkende med gamle analoge
båndmaskiner og en mobiltelefon!
Tilbage i 2017 gæstede Satanique Samba Trio Global med en på én gang
bevidsthedsudvidende, skæv og underholdende koncert. Nu gæster et af
Brasiliens særeste bands så atter Nørre Allé 7 i forbindelse med
udgivelsen af det nye album.

If you ever wanted to know how traditional Brazilian music would
sound if it went infernal, Satanique Samba Trio is the fastest and
coolest way to find it out! Despite their name, Satanique Samba Trio are
in fact a quintet. No Brazilian traditional rhythm remains unscathed on
the band’s trail of desecration. From samba to forró, from bossa nova
to lambada, the band has been adding virulence, dissonance and
provocation to Brazil’s musical heritage since 2002. Their music is
driven by a simple but fertile aesthetic guideline: the deconstruction
of the most recurrent clichés of Brazilian folk music. Their strange
but also highly entertaining musical brew was displayed when they
visited Copenhagen in 2017. Now they return to Nørrebro with their brand
new LP coming out in September. True to their eccentric attitude, the
band recorded it entirely with 1980’s analogue tape machines and with a
cell phone.

Opened on the 1st of February 2018, ALICE is Copenhagen’s powerhouse for adventurous music. ALICE is presenting a bold and high quality program of global roots, jazz/improv, electronic music, sonic experiments and much more, shedding light on musical roots and legendary artists as well as exciting new breakthroughs from all over the world.
