Lecture with one of China’s most interesting architectural offices on cultural heritage and urban transformation in China from hutong to high-rise.
Forelæsning med en af Kinas mest interessante tegnestuer om kulturarv og urban udvikling i Kina fra hutong til højhus.
I årenes løb har Meng Yan ledet det kinesiske forsknings- og designteam URBANUS, der arbejder på at bevare de historiske Qianmen Hutong-områder. Undervejs har tegnestuen udviklet en række urban design strategier og arkitektoniske interventioner. Desuden har URBANUS i mere end ti år fokuseret på de urbane landsbyer i Shenzhen. Et arbejde, der til sidst førte til genopretningsplanen for Nantou-landsbyen Bi-City Biennale of Urbanism \ Architecture i Shenzhen, 2017. I forelæsningen gennemgår partner Meng Yan, tegnestuens undersøgelser og praksis i Beijing og Shenzhen, der udgør en stærk kontrast til Kinas drastiske bymæssige forandringer i den historiske by.
Over the years Meng Yan has led research and design team of URBANUS working on preservation of the historic Qianmen Hutong Areas resulting in a series of urban design strategies and architectural interventions. Also for more than ten years URBANUS has been focusing on the urban villages in Shenzhen, it eventually led to the regeneration plan of Nantou village-site of the 2017 Bi-City Biennale of Urbanism\Architecture (Shenzhen). A review of researches and practices in Beijing and Shenzhen sets up a contrasting dialogue against the backdrop of China’s drastic urban transition of the historic city.
