Til efteråret er der en unik chance for at møde den populære engelske TV-personlighed John Wright, der regelmæssigt optræder som ekspert i serien River Cottage.
John Wright er bedst kendt som en ledende ekspert i sankning, dvs. indsamling af råvarer i naturen, og han har skrevet talrige bøger om emnet. Men rundvisningen her handler om en anden af John Wrights passioner, videnskabelige latinske navne, om hvilket han har forfattet den anmelderroste bog The Naming of the Shrew: A Curious History of Latin Names.
Om bogen skrev anmelderne bl.a., ”Who would have thought that a book about Latin names could be quite so compelling!!” og “Nature writing at its best: insightful, entertaining and often very funny”.
Det er lige præcis i den ånd, at særrundvisningen i Botanisk Have foregår. Med stor indsigt og krydret med britisk underfundighed vil John Wright gøre videnskabelige navne tilgængelige og fascinerende for ikke-eksperter. Han vil fortælle om, hvordan man navngiver planter og andre organismer, og give masser af eksempler på, hvad der ligger af spændende historier om planterne og personerne, der navngav eller opdagede dem, gemt i deres latinske navne.
NB: Rundvisningen foregår på ENGELSK, men en af vores faste rundvisere i Botanisk Have vil være med på turen og kan hjælpe med at oversætte fagudtryk.

I have not received my ticket via email. What should I do?
The first thing to do is check your spam/junk filters and inboxes. Your tickets were sent as an attachment and can be thought of as spam by some email services.
