Ungarn møder Danmark: Musikalske strømninger på tværs af Europa
Grænseløs er en festival om de fornyende musikalske strømninger i tiden op mod første verdenskrig og tiden efter, med udgangspunkt i Carl Nielsens og Béla Bartóks virke fra hver deres del af verden.
Et musikalsk tværsnit i en verden, hvor stærke politiske kræfter vedholdende insisterede på at gøre verden mere grænsefast, men hvor de kunstneriske strømninger lige så insisterende gav et billede af en verden der blev mere og mere grænseløs.
1. Koncert: Nye retninger
De store romantiske komponisters død i 1890'erne synes at markere et opbrud fra tidligere tiders mere tilbageskuende og drømmende musikstil. Mange forskelligartede retninger og stilarter voksede frem. Musikken havde heller ikke længere nødvendigvis sit centrum i det centrale Tyskland eller Wien, men syntes at vokse udenfor murene.
